Our client, a blue-chip company in smart energy systems was entering a critical phase: the development of a custom SoC to boost performance and differentiation in their next-generation product by integrating more digital processing into the architecture.
To support this evolution, our client selected a major chip maker. Its role was to scale-up from a previous generation of AMS ASICs to a specialized SoC embedded smart processing.
Internally, no SoC had yet been developed. The specifications remained partly conceptual. The requirements had to be formalized based on previous projects and current needs. At the same time, a proper digital verification flow, structured from specification to testbench, had to be established.
Beyond the technical aspects, coordination between the customer and the chip manufacturer required a clearer framework. Expectations had to be made explicit and exchanges structured in order to improve visibility on the progress of the project.
Structure, clarify, connect
Aedvices initially brought in to update the existing specification and enable the test plan generation.
Very quickly, the role evolved into a broader mission:
- ensuring a technical bridge between internal teams and the chip maker,
- translating functional needs and aligning expectations,
- and ensuring visibility.
The work therefore consisted of formalizing the SoC specification in a traceable manner. Then, designed a requirement-based verification plan. This approach made it possible to establish a clear continuity between what is expressed at the system level and what is verified at the digital level.
We developed a dedicated test environment. We then setup a continuous-integration workflow to ensure the project followed a structured and measurable process.
The goal was not only to produce technical deliverables, but also to establish a sustainable methodological framework.
Regaining control and visibility
As the project progressed, clarifying requirements and streamlining the development process restored visibility for the teams. The specification became a structured, traceable document that served as a common reference for all parties.
The client gradually regained ownership over the digital aspects of the project, thanks to the mentoring and methodology sharing provided by Aedvices.
Our intervention restored confidence in the ASIC development process and associated planning.
This project illustrates how Aedvices works on SoC programs. We provide technical expertise in front-end design and verification, while structuring exchanges and methods to secure development over time.
